Sadler Building

Oxford Science Park
Magdalen College & The Prudential Joint Venture

DESCRIPTION

Oxford Science Park is an ongoing development by Magdalen College and PruPIM located on the outskirts of Oxford City that provides businesses with a variety of office and laboratory type spaces. The Sadler Building forms part of the joint venture’s desire to enhance the existing and future occupants’ amenity.

As a public destination for those visiting and occupying buildings on the Science Park, the building was required to reflect the quality of the surrounding buildings and provide an internal public space that takes advantage of the surrounding landscape creating an enjoyable space for dining, meeting and relaxing. The building is arranged over two stories with a central atrium space.

A simple elegant roof form with a colonnaded overhang provides shelter and solar shading where appropriate. The vault is covered with a standing seam aluminium roofing system.

Facade treatments are a mixture of solid and glazed panels with full height glazing supported by elegant steel mullions to the lake elevation that takes advantage of the panoramic views across the park.
