Duston Secondary School

The design for this school evolves from the head teacher’s desire to see everything from one place with each faculty having it’s own identity.

The faculties are positioned around a central glazed courtyard containing a safe play area. Other external areas are created between the splayed fingers which are located to maximise views from within the building. The sports facilities are located adjacent to the existing school swimming pool.

Through careful consideration of pupil movement and working within the Department for Education and Skills Area Guidelines, circulation spaces are maximised to achieve best value and are tailored to suite the peak demands.
