Hamiltons were asked to help Amec with their proposal to Network Rail for the redevelopment of Guildford Station. The proposal was for the creation of a new station, spanning the tracks and creating a funnel to link the two sides of the track and improve the accessibility of the town centre from the west.
The new station would be paid for by 690 apartments, including 30% affordable, ranged along the trackside, 6,000sqm of office space, and retail and leisure uses.
The concept behind the design of the station combined a dynamic structure which spanned the tracks to avoid disruption during construction, with the objective of creating a dynamic new gateway portal to Guildford.
