Bennett Street

Manchester

DESCRIPTION

Bennett Street is a 5 hectares, (13 acres) masterplan on a former industrial site in West Gorton, East Manchester. The site is within the 1,900 hectares New East Manchester urban regeneration, one of the biggest regeneration projects undertaken in the country.

Hamiltons’ masterplan brings new approaches and ideas to regeneration, from innovative car parking and refuse recycling to housing typologies and new urban spaces. Connections are being made to schools and railway stations and the constraints of the site, like railway viaducts, turned into positive contributions to character and local history. The new masterplan is related closely to the context of existing housing but creates a number of sub-communities round green spaces and village squares.
