Treforest Industrial Estate

This commission brought an inspirational brief to assess an existing 200 acre industrial portfolio for large scale re- development to create a more mixed use sustainable environment where people can live and work. The content of the masterplan included hotel, housing, a new village centre, amenity and entertainment buildings. Office accommodation and other workspaces were rationalised to bring more and better accommodation for the new Welsh economies. A new piazza and riverside park linked leisure areas together with a comprehensive movement framework away from the spine road used by the commercial and industrial users, ultimately linking to an under-used railway station. Heavy industry was zoned to a directly accessed end of the plan but allowing the workforce to connect to the social and leisure hub.
