The Aviator is a sleek 169 bedroom hotel inspired by the unique heritage and history of Farnborough airfield. Its graceful curves, formed from bands of bright aluminium, swirl around the outside with an eddy in the flow, drawing visitors towards and into the main entrance. Its spectacular internal atrium and glazed wall being an integral part of the external form with the dramatic curves of the roof providing shelter for arriving guests.
The result has a unique presence, a legible form that is simple and elegant to use, reinforcing the layout of accommodation within, with core functions such as the reception, lounge, restaurant, patisserie, bar and lifts arranged around the circular atrium, a hub, allowing guests to easily orientate themselves, with guestrooms enjoying spectacular views arranged along the twin wings of accommodation on either side, an appropriate addition to the unique character of the area.
The hotel has recently opened and occupies the site of the former RAF Officers Mess at Farnborough Airfield, on the Farnborough Road. The project has been developed with Dakota Hotels as operators, whose acclaimed stylish and friendly brand aims to deliver a unique hotel whose functions will compliment the needs of a vibrant and growing community.
