Wixams

Hamiltons was appointed as joint masterplanners for Wixams, a new town in Bedfordshire, with prime responsibility for the town centre, railway quarter and commercial areas. The lessons learnt from previous new towns form a core approach to higher density areas. Flexibility of plots and building typologies allow the long term programming of a large project without committing to an outmoded solution. An hotel, railway and traffic interchange, retail, leisure, employment and office uses were all integrated into the site in addition to the initial residential use.
